Jan Wetterstein, founder and owner, is from Denmark and immigrated to the United States at 32. He has worked in flooring since he was 12 years old, and his family worked in upholstery and sewing. He was raised during a generation without video games and distractions but still had to do something. He found he enjoyed working with his hands, and flooring was an excellent outlet for that passion. In addition to flooring, he also does home inspections for his wife's real estate company, along with handiwork, such as fixing floors and installing sinks.
He learned the skill from his father, who founded Wetterstein Enterprises more than 40 years ago as his own flooring company. Jan began his career at the age of 15. Together with his brother, they honed their skills in the European tradition, the old fashioned way, passed down from their father as a specialized skilled craftsman. Father and sons worked together as a family unit, and the father instilled in his two boys, then young men, artistry in their trade and an uncompromising work ethic.
Their accomplishments include installing flooring for Danish Royalty, 5-star hotels, and elegant Scandinavian Cruise Line ships. The Wettersteins were in such demand that their customers flew them all over the world to Holland, Belgium, England, Boston, and New York to install custom hardwood floors.
